Throughout the Jalsa Salana proceedings, passionate volunteers (which includes a large amount of younger members) keep the participants’ thirst quenched by constantly supplying them with water.
As Jalsa Salana UK is usually held during the hot summer days of August, it is vital for participants to stay hydrated and cool. It is the task of the water supply department to distribute cups and fill them with bottles of water to those who are participating in the Jalsa Salana.
The Holy Prophet (sa) said,
“Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, will say on the Day of Resurrection…’O son of Adam, I asked you for something to drink but you did not give it to me.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how can I give You something to drink when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ He will say, ‘My servant asked you to give him something to drink and you did not give it to him. Had you given it to him, you would have surely found that with Me’ ”
(Mishkat al-Masabih, Hadith 1528)
It has also been reported that the Holy Prophet (sa) was asked, “which charity is best?” He (sa) replied, “[providing] water.”
(Sunan an-Nasa’i, Hadith 3665) It is with these powerful Ahadith of the Holy Prophet (sa) which are kept in mind, that a plethora of volunteers convene and distribute water to the participants of Jalsa Salana.
